Got 2: 1. As a 45 year old hoops junkie, I went to Houston from Austin in June 1995 to get arthroscopic surgery on an ACL I had torn a couple months before. One of the Rockets owners was a client of mine; his wife promised me that if the Rockets were in the Finals while I was there for surgery, she'd get me a ticket. Big laugh as nobody thought that could happen. The Rockets did it and I had my surgery on June 10th. The next night wearing an immobilizing cast, I got to watch The Dream and his men squeak by Shaq & Penny from a great seat (aisle so I could let my cast hang out). Sweeeet! 2. In 1999 we drove to San Antonio hoping I could snag a scalped ticket to the Spurs/Blazers Western Conf Finals. Thought I could only afford 1 lousy one. Somehow a scalper who didn't understand his business sold us two 2nd row tix for face value of $55 each with NO service charges. Together we watched Sean Elliott drill the game winning Memorial Day Miracle shot from 20 feet away in line with the sideline so we could clearly see his tip toe dance to keep from going out of bounds. Sweeeet!

Holy crap. I'd completely forgotten about Chris Street. I think I'd left Iowa City for NYC a month before he was killed. Still, even 800 miles away, I remember what a blow that was. He was a great kid who could've actually had a career in the NBA as a swing man. (Parenthetically, obviously, just realized that Roy Marble--another potential swing man from Iowa who never really made much of an impression in the NBA--died of lung cancer in 2015 at age 48.)

As a huge Jordan fan "the shot" to end his career is epic. However I think one of my favorite stories is the Cleveland fan trash talking Jordan after he came back from retirement.

Jordan was playing terribly that year up to that point. The whole game the fan ragged on him. Especially his shoes. He kept telling him how ugly they were and Jordan was washed up.

Long story short Jordan came back at the half and beat the Cavs. The Bulls won 72 games setting the season record and the shoes he made fun of were the Air Force Ones. One of the most popular shoes of all time.

Cleveland fan should have shut his mouth.

I love it! Jordan was the best at silencing hecklers and you could tell he enjoyed it. I hadn't seen the one you referenced, but found a video of it. What a killer:
